I actually quite like the slightness of this album. It sounds less new age-y than the title and review would have you believe. -Ian!

Give credit to Cylob’s Chris Jeffs; the title is quite apt. Mood Bells is a collection of isolationist material featuring Asian gongs and bells (and not much else), rarely tweaked or processed, usually just left to fade out before another is heard. The track titles (“Worlds Within Worlds,” “Spheres Within Spheres,” “China Gong”) tell much of the story. For those interested in cutting-edge IDM on the order of the classic Cylobian Sunset, Jeffs obliged with a three-track EP (Cut the Midrange, Drop the Bass) released the same day.
